When 15 year-old Vanessa runs away to her grandmother's after the arrests of her mother and step-father, she is picked up on the highway by Bob, a potentially demented psychologist. As she is relaying the harrowing story of her step-father's sexual abuse, Vanessa begins to realize that Bob is enjoying the details a bit too much. Could it be that he is the serial rapist that has been flashing on the news lately? Or is he just a creepy man who likes to pick up hitchhiking teens? Matthew Bright's disturbing film features incredible acting by both Reese Witherspoon as Vanessa and Kiefer Sutherland as Bob.
